Product Overview

The rapid expansion of domestic hydrogen energy supply chains has brought hydrogen compressors to the centre of every green energy project. Ever Power's hydrogen compressor range handles the full spectrum of process requirements: gas-phase purification and transfer in SMR and coal gasification plants; circulating hydrogen loops in hydrocracking and hydrotreating reactors; high-pressure filling of hydrogen cylinders at 15.00–16.50 MPa; large-volume buffer storage for hydrogen refuelling stations; and electrolysis output compression for grid-scale storage. Modular skid packages with VFD, soft-start, or fixed-speed drives are available, and the range complies with API 618 and relevant national standards throughout.

All models use oil-free lubrication — no oil anywhere in the compression cylinder — using PTFE-composite piston rings and packing, ensuring the delivered hydrogen meets ISO 14687 fuel quality requirements and avoids catalyst contamination in downstream processes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why must hydrogen compressors be oil-free?
Even trace oil in hydrogen causes catalyst poisoning in fuel cells and dehydrogenation reactors, can form explosive peroxides at high pressure, and violates ISO 14687 hydrogen fuel quality standards. Oil-free PTFE-composite piston rings eliminate contamination at source.
What hydrogen production routes does this compressor range support?
The range covers electrolysis (PEM and alkaline), natural gas steam methane reforming (SMR), methanol cracking, coal gasification, and chlor-alkali co-production. Each source produces hydrogen at different inlet pressures and purities; models are sized accordingly.
What is the difference between a circulating hydrogen compressor and a make-up hydrogen compressor?
Circulating compressors boost pressure within a closed hydrocracking or hydrotreating loop to maintain reactor hydrogen partial pressure — they handle large volumes at relatively low differential pressure. Make-up compressors add fresh hydrogen to compensate for consumption — they typically operate at higher discharge pressures. Both types are covered in this range.
Can these be configured for outdoor or arctic operation?
Yes. Weatherproof enclosures, immersion heaters, anti-condensation motor heaters, and low-temperature lubrication-rated materials can be specified for ambient temperatures down to -40 °C. Tropical high-humidity configurations are also available.
What control and monitoring options are available?
Standard options include PLC-based local control panels, VFD for applicable models, soft-start, remote SCADA interface (Modbus RTU/TCP), gas detection interlocks, and automatic shutdown on high temperature or high pressure excursion. Multi-unit sequencing controls are available for parallel installations.
Exploring nitrogen or oxygen requirements alongside hydrogen in the same facility? Our Air Separation Oxygen / Nitrogen / Argon Compressors cover the full suite of industrial gas compression needs.
