Product Overview

Pressure swing adsorption and vacuum pressure swing adsorption (PSA/VPSA) are the dominant industrial methods for producing oxygen, hydrogen, and separating carbon monoxide from mixed gas streams. Ever Power has dedicated long-term engineering focus to the compressor equipment integral to these processes — from feed-air supply through to product-gas boosting and tail-gas recycle. The result is a range of oil-free reciprocating compressors proven in traditional industrial settings, new energy plants, waste-gas treatment facilities, and wastewater treatment stations. Products comply with API 618 and relevant national standards.

Key application areas include: PSA/VPSA oxygen generation (medical, aquaculture, industrial combustion enhancement); coke oven gas and syngas hydrogen purification; industrial CO separation for chemical synthesis; and combined systems producing multiple product gases from a single feed source.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between PSA feed-air compressors and product-gas compressors?
Feed-air compressors supply filtered atmospheric air to the adsorbent bed at the PSA inlet pressure (typically 0.3–0.8 MPa for VPSA or 0.5–1.2 MPa for PSA). Product-gas compressors take the purified O₂, H₂, or CO from the bed outlet and boost it to storage or distribution pressure. Both types are available in this range.
How do these compressors handle the cyclic pressure swings in PSA duty?
PSA cycles typically repeat every 60–180 seconds, causing inlet and outlet pressure fluctuations. Suction and discharge pulsation dampeners are designed into the piping package, and valve timing on the reciprocating unit is optimised for the expected pressure range. The result is smooth, stable flow through each adsorption-desorption cycle.
Can a single compressor serve multiple PSA beds simultaneously?
Yes. A common discharge manifold with individual bed inlet valves allows one compressor to serve two or more beds in staggered cycles. This is a standard configuration for VPSA oxygen systems where bed A is being pressurised while bed B is desorbing.
What hydrogen purity can be achieved at the compressor outlet after PSA?
PSA hydrogen purity from typical coke oven gas or syngas feed reaches 99.9–99.999 vol% H₂. The compressor does not affect purity — its role is to maintain the correct pressure differential across the bed. Downstream analysis equipment verifies purity independent of compressor operation.
Are these compressors suitable for CO (carbon monoxide) service?
Yes. CO is handled in dedicated CO-service models with materials selected to resist carbonyl formation, and with provision for nitrogen purging on shutdown to prevent accumulation of toxic or flammable gas inside the casing. CO-specific seal and valve materials are standard for these applications.
